Sugar Butch Chronicles

May 26, 2009

PHew, flurpg. The sounds of palette cleansing. After this weekend, I can take a small break from queeny half-dressed men. Thank god a friend of mine mentioned Sugarbutch Chronicles, a kinky, sexy blog by Sinclair Sexsmith. Sexsmith is not a misnomer, as this turned out to be a hot site for dykes who like their porn and kink conversations with less cautious giggling and more comfortable assumptions. Film reviews, passionate opinions about sex toys, erotic narratives, real life sex stories and overall intelligence make this a good read, even for a gay guy like me. Considering the many queer girls I know that want more real blogs for them, Sugarbutch should be a nice landing pad.

Taylor Mac Got Rave Reviews

October 5, 2008

The Chicago Tribune liked it, the Sun-Times liked it too. Now hear what TPR has to say about it.

I was actually a little gay-shamed about not knowing who Taylor Mac was. I mean, TPR has dedicated its 5 year existence to knowing about the queers, you know? And then here comes good ol’ About Face Theatre, kicking off its first season (with new Artistic Director Bonnie Metzgar) with Taylor Mac, an established performance artist based in NYC. I’ve been lucky enough to catch Deena Martina in Seattle, and Justin Bond a few times. So it was a little surprising and highly alleviating when Taylor Mac, with his scary make-up and gorgeous set was wholly different yet on the same artistic and boundary pushing level. Read the full review after the jump and listen for an interview with Taylor Mac on next week’s podcast.

When: Through Oct. 26
Where: About Face Theatre at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted
Tickets: $20-$40 online here or by phone at (773) 784-8565
