Tim Gunn Tells Candidates to Make It Work

February 6, 2008

…not kidding. Here’s a quote:

“I think Hillary should be taking a lesson from Nancy Pelosi, I really do. She, for me, is fashion on the Hill. She has a femininity yet a professionalism, and she has style. She’s also not afraid to be a woman, and she celebrates it. She’s not ever remotely vulgar or provocative in what she wears, but I have to say, she’s a very sexy woman.”

Go Tim!

Ask Dr. Lou

Dear Dr. Lou: Do you hate Christian?

I like this question because I definitely had a gut-level dislike of Christian that I wanted to analyze. Thinking about it, the thing that fuels my annoyance of Christian is his arrogance, actually something that goes beyond arrogance that I don’t have a word for.

“Confidence” is liking and being proud of your work. Nothing wrong with that.

“Arrogance” is liking your work so much that you cannot accept any feedback by others even those who have more experience or a different perspective than you. Kind of a bad trait, but likely not all that uncommon amongst creative people, especially those selected for reality TV.

“Beyond Arrogance” is thinking you are the only person in the room with talent and anything to say creatively (Hello, Jeffrey Sebelia). That’s a bad place for anyone to be.

This kid is in for trouble if he thinks at 21 years old that he has nothing to learn from anyone else.

But, what about his hair?

I have no complaints about the hair. I’d like to think that if I was a young, tiny, twinky, wanna-be punk designer, I’d have crazy hair too.

If I was doing the kid’s report card:
Designs- Superior
Hair- Outstanding
Attitude- Needs Improvement

More gay fun with fashion at Project Rungay. Finally, did you know there was a Project Runway Canada?? With fucking Iman as the host? And her axe-line is “You just don’t measure up” ??!!
