Peaches – Talk To Me

April 11, 2009

Photobucket

I said it before, and I’ll say it again: this might be a good time to renew your faith in Peaches. Production by Simian Mobile Disco, Soulwax, Drums of Death and a guest spot by Shunda K, May 5TH is sure to be a good day for beat-driven gender fucking. There is a really interesting mini-documentary about Peaches’ history and her vision over at peachesrocks.com. Merrill Nisker is once again leaving an off-white stain on the indie community, and I’m excited. I Feel Cream‘s songs are all over the internet if you l.o.o.k. hard enough, don’t rely on me kids. Vid for lead single “Talk To Me” below, tracklist after the jump.

Peaches Touring with Drums of Death

March 10, 2009

Photobucket

I don’t know about y’all, but these days when I hear about a new Peaches album, I get a little scared. Don’t get me wrong, the lady has done a lot for sex. As in, she has single handedly allowed hipsters to talk about it, and be a little sore when they walk the walk about it. I was able to interview her during the Fatherfucker tour, and let me tell you: she has strong vision and nothing but love for anyone with a freeness about sexuality. HOWEVER Impeach My Bush, her last record, mostly collapsed under her own weight, and I was beginning to doubt. The sounds started dating themselves, and I was worried it would be the end.  But I wouldn’t want an indie scene without her! THANK GOD she started remixing, because her remixes have been stellar. This week, it was with great relief that I read she was letting some new blood into her labia-fold, and here come Drums Of Death. Tourmates and album contributors for Peaches circa 2009, it is always good news when a veteran gets a youngsta she inspired to help out. It’s like the sexual circle if life. Drums Of Death is from the UK and released a Peaches inspired mixtape that embeds the new song “I Feel Cream,” the title track of the record (hint: some hot shit starts right around the middle and continues right at the end).

Download below, tour dates and album track list after the jump. I Feel Cream is out May 5th on XL Recordings.

Chochotte helps for the visibily of artists who work on gender and identity but is open, in a larger way, to all visual, radical artists who propose a new way to do music, be music, show music.”

This Parisian digital comp is available in itunes and other reputable online stores, and seems like a worhwhile venture. Check out the following myspaces for streaming sample and buy the shiz. March 31, 2008
Photobucket

Oh man, expect lots of myspace bulletins soon!! Cindy Wonderful and her cohort Sarah Adorable are coming to your town this Spring for a full blown North American tour. You’ve already heard their collab with Peaches, the hysterical “Fine As Fuck” featuring some of Wonderful’s sexiest word slinging. Check out their show in a town near you, it looks like queer core’s punk rock MC’s are getting local homo-fied bands in each city to open for that local flava. Florida’s leg is lucky enough to get Shunda K of Yo Majesty. Woo Hoo! Scream Club is looking to round out their tour and needs your help to fill out some holes in their schedule (all dates after the jump.). They’re also looking for DJ’s! Check out their myspace and let them know if you are available. Their record label, Crunks Not Dead is always doing mail order too, featuring releases by Johnny Dangerous, Joey Casio, and Making Friendz!!

In case you didn’t know, they speak French too:

B-52′s Funplex Remixes Finally Out

March 28, 2008
Photobucket

Finally! And judging from the amount of people searching for Peaches’ “Pleasure Seekers Remix,” CSS’s “Extended Remix” and the Scissor Sisters’ “Witches at the Wet Seal Mix,” there are people dying for these hip, extra queer treatments of an already gay song. SO far, I think the Peaches take is the best as she really makes it her own. To tell you the truth, CSS yawns through this one and the blown out Ibiza/white party vibe on the Sisters’ turn is a bit much. Think you can get these puppies here for free? No Way. Blogs that have dared have already gotten the smack down, not even a day later. The entire Funplex EP is only $2.50 on itunes, buy some music for a change.

Peaches Still Ripe

December 2, 2007

It’s been a while, her DJ sets are just trashy enough to keep me sated but I miss Peaches. She just makes me laugh. Artists whose strength is their hook-up ready singles are nothing new, so you haters can just halt right there. “Downtown,” “Boys Wanna Be Her,” and “Stick It To The Pimp” from Impeach My Bush were all bangers, remixed and danced-to across the world. Plus, she’s a prominently political rocker that’s never afraid to put her money on what she shoves her mouth over. To my delight, there is some momentum building at camp rump- I got an email just to let me the know the XXXtress will be touring as a DJ next spring, there’s a sale for merch at peachesrocks.com, we can expect a new LP in fall ’08 AND she just remixed Tone Loc’s Wild Thing. Good enough. A trip, skip and lick on my keyboard and I also found a hysterical collaboration with underground queer icons Scream Club. “Fine as Fuck,” a song where the ridiculous hook is only out shined by Cindy Wonderful’s deft pillow talk.

Scream Club Vs. Ben Adorable–Fine As Fuck Feat. Peaches

Daft Punk–Technologic (Peaches No Logic Remix)

Bonde Do Role–Marina Gasolina (Peaches Remix)

Tone Loc–Wild Thing (Peaches Remix)

Monster beherrschen diesen Planet (with Peaches)–Die Goldenen Zitronen

Infadels–Prince vs. Peaches

Buy Peaches and music from itunes or emusic
