It has been a long time coming, and the people behind the extremely important documentary Fish Out of Water have been working hard to get out a quality product. Refining and re-cutting, you know how it goes. This weekend, NYC gets the official premiere of the trailer for the movie and a hot-ass party to boot. Palmsout Sounds DJ’s and free swag make this a great night out for a great cause! The film confronts the issue of homosexuality and the bible, interviewing people through out the United States and the across the spectrum of the argument (OH AND ALSO, a certain someone named Kaki King is scoring the damn thing, holy cow). You can check out TPR’s podcast with the Chicago-based film maker Ky Dickens here. Deets below, get out and be out for Fish Out of Water!

Stereogum To Release Covers Tribute of Bjork’s ‘Post’

March 28, 2008

Starting March 31st, Stereogum will have a song-by-song tribute to Bjork’s groundbreaking 2nd solo album “Post.” “Enjoyed” has an impressive who’s who of indie rockers is on the list (see below). I know this eclectic record infused my adolescent gayness with beats and piqued my curiosity for artier/electronic interests, so it’s no wonder we see so many fellow gays up in here: Atlas Sound, Xiu Xiu and Final Fantasy w/ Ed Droste all contribute. Like the R.E.M. and Radiohead albums Stereogum did in the past, these will be downloadable for a limited time only. Below are some tracks from the R.E.M. tribute that you might be interested in (maybe).

Kaki’s King

March 23, 2008

It’s exciting when both sides of the queer spectrum embrace something. Kaki King is enjoying some needed attention from outside the queer scene too. Her non-offensive indie rock is chock full of riffage, something most rock lacks these days. Her new video for “Pull Me Out” has been making the rounds.
