Hello,
I am a member of Wicked Jezabel, the Baltimore-DC area’s only all-female, all-gay party band. We played at Baltimore Pride’s block party last year, as well as DC Pride’s festival, and continue to play at local venues year-round. I would like to announce that on Feb 17, 2008, we were awarded the “Wammy Award” for “Best duo/group in Hard Rock” category for 2007 by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA).

Quote from the Metroweekly: Published on February 21, 2008
Forget the Grammy Awards. In D.C., it’s all about the Wammies, the Washington Area Music Awards (WAMA), which recognize significant career achievements by area musicians. On Feb. 17, the 22nd Annual Wammies honored the six women who comprise Wicked Jezabel. They are: Davi Anson-Dross, Pauline Anson-Dross, Ginger Starling, Mickey Dehn, Sandy Dumas and Meri Schaefer. The big-haired, all-women cover band won in the category of ”Best Hard Rock Duo/Group,” against a handful of local bands.
”We really made some Washington history here,” says Pauline Anson-Dross, who sings and plays guitar with the band. ”We’re probably not only the first all-female band to win a Wammie, but we’re the only all-lesbian band to win a Wammie in 22 years.”
Anson-Dross says in addition to ”rocking the Mid-Atlantic,” Wicked Jezabel plans to release its first CD sometime this year. The band currently has demos and music available online. ”We’re in the process of putting something together,” Anson-Dross says.

Check out my new homo-tastic music video for Athens Boys Choir.
At 3am Sunday morning, Michael Roike and Stevon-Christophe Burrell became the unwilling victims of a hate-crime. As they exited 1409 Playbill Cafe, on 14th Street NW, to smoke a cigarette before they paid their bill, they were confronted by two men who were waiting for food from Yum’s.
Words were exchanged and after repeatedly hearing the word “Faggot” from the men, Stevon asked them to get in their SUV and leave them alone. One of the men came at Stevon when Michael stepped in between them and asked them to not cause problems. At that point, one of the men squarely punched Michael in the left eye and sent him sprawling to the ground. Immediately after, the other man socked Stevon in the jaw and sent him to the ground as well.
At this point, both assailants fled the scene leaving their friend who was driving the SUV to handle the situation. After waiting 20 minutes for the police to arrive, Michael and Stevon along with two other witnesses proceeded to give their reports. Sadly, the description of the men (two, average sized, African Americans in khaki cargo pants and dark button up shirts) fits most of the late night population in DC.
The next morning found Michael and Stevon both with black eyes and sore faces and heads. The chances of this situation leading to a prosecution are slim; I have decided to take a stance. I want everyone in DC to hold hands and form the largest circle for strength this city has ever seen!
We will start in Logan Circle with just Stevon and me holding hands. Then we will include everyone who arrives and just spread out as far as we possibly can. If that means we only circle the park, fine. If we can get hundreds of people in on this, we can potentially surround the entire neighborhood!
So please, COME OUT and show some LOVE and SUPPORT for some people who have always loved and supported you.
I have posted links to many informative sites on the web about hate crime statistics and prevention groups. Also, for those with a little more will than others, go to YouTube and search anything to do with gay+hate+crime or any combination. So many things will come up. Videos of loved ones lost to hate crimes, montages of dead military officers, gay high school students and homeless gay youth culture are all predominate. But the most disturbing things are the videos posted by kids and adults gay bashing gays and lesbians. There are videos of teens bragging how they beat up the school “fag” earlier that day! How is this right? What are these parents teaching their kids?
We also will have information from the Mathew Sheppard Foundation on how you can join and stop hate crime around the world!
Please visit the above mentioned webpage to find out more about the Rally and how you can help and contribute. Thank you!
Hooray Gay!
