An intriguing discussion is definitely worth comment. I think that you should write more on this subject matter, it might not be a taboo matter but generally people don't discuss such topics. To the next! Best wishes!!

Later on, Clay and Laser go to Jules’ and Nic’s bedroom, looking through their stuff. It’s clear that Clay is a troublemaker who is a bad influence on Laser; his parents are worried about Laser hanging out with Clay and actually think they might be gay (but of course they aren’t). Clay and Laser find a porn DVD in a drawer and play it, thinking it’s lesbian porn. Laser’s mums walk in on them watching gay man porn; they have a talk with him and encourage him to tell them about any “special relationships” he has because they think he’s gay; he thinks they’re talking about Paul. When he tells them, they’re quite surprised. As they go to bed, Jules and Nic agree to meet with Paul politely but to keep him out of the family.

Hooray! A fellow aophrotolngist!! <3.We just started discussing kinship a little bit in my intro to anthro class this week, but we're diving into marriage and family in depth next week. It's always amazing to see people realize that there are all sorts of really different ways of organizing kinship and that it's not always in ways that privilege biological parentage. Great idea having them make kinship charts! I think we've moved away from this so much, but i makes for really interesting discussions with informants.I'm doing two guest lectures on sex, gender, and sexuality this Friday, and I love introducing students to these concepts. Most of them have no clue, so it's good to be able to open their eyes a bit.

It would be cool to have it back to back with SOBCon (exhausting, though) for those of us fylnig in for the event. Two weekends of bloggy fun would be terrific would save on airfare. This is so exciting. Let me know how I can help!@Karen: I don't know what they have planned, but WordCamps are supposed to be free or really low cost. In Chicago, it should be easy to find sponsors and keep it unconferency, which is what has worked beautifully for many WordCamp events, keeping the cost really low. $20-$25 is normal. I hope they can do the same here.
