Episode #2 of Brown Down Crown is up, and it is damn funny. Devon Devine and Jenna Riot are ridiculously fabulous, and bitingly funny skit comes right at the beginning around 2:25, then TPR Pal Ickaprick & Iron Pussy guests at 9:07. Wish I could be on it sometime! I’m Brown, I’m Down, and I will buy a Crown to be on the show!

Homophobia on The Young & The Restless
May 27, 2009
*Michael Muhney
No he dint! Amidst all the celebration of queerness going on at the set of the Young and the Restless comes a blatant act of homophobia. Actor Chris Egen has officially quit his part as Adam Newman after storylines called for him to kiss gay character Rafe! Less than a day after quitting actor Newman has now been recast with Michael Muhney of Veronica Mars fame! At least we have some open minded hotness to look forward to with Michael Muhney and Rafe! How unfortunate it is that hot actor Chris Egen’s homophobic tendencies have come to light. I wish him no luck in his future endeavors.

The Young & The Restless’ Queerness
May 22, 2009
When openly out actress Clementine Ford of the L Word fame joined the Young and the Restless last month to take over the role of Mackenzie Browning, the show also announced that one of their characters was coming out. Would it be the recently returning character of Mackenzie? Apparently not. Bravo for Y&R for not typecasting Ms. Ford, and choosing resident legal eagle hottie Rafael “Rafe” Torres to be the character to non-chalantly come out during a random lunch scene. Now with Rafe joining the small daytime ranks of queerness, Y&R has the chance to write a compelling story about a character who just happens to be gay. The queer presence continues to grow on Y&R with the surprise return of presumed-dead Phillip Chancellor III, played by openly out actor Thom Bierdz! Fan favorite Bierdz rejoins the soap after a twenty year absence still looking as sexy as ever! Looks like the Young and the Restless is becoming the queer soap to beat, both in front and behind the cameras!

RuPaul’s Drag Race Casting
May 6, 2009

But really, the big news besides the (gimmicky) vote for the next contestants roster on the website, is that there will be another season. If you didn’t happen to catch it, you can still watch each episode at Logoonline.com and it is really worth your time. TRUST. The reason? It’s like Project Runway with drag queens. Sure, most of the contestants were not that much better than your average reality competition (Nina Flowers, Bebe Zahara Benet, and Ongina excepted). You had the insufferable, the tragic, the naive, the bitch and charity case and what not. No, the real excitement about Drag Race is that RuPaul kept it real, making sure that portions of the show were dedicated to our drag fore-mothers, included vogue balls as a key moment in history, and finally in the reunion, made sure to acknowledge hate and discrimination in a powerful blow up scene that had me crying. See, RuPaul knew this would be his chance to step it up, and among all the genuine fun that was had (it was…so, so godamn fun) there was some realness thrown in. Being a drag queen is tough shit–I was just talking to a friend who was watching season 4 of project runway and lamented that she couldn’t love Christian Siriano as much as she wanted to because of his derogatory use of the word “tranny” and how he went on to say that “drag queens were the white trash of the gay community.” I know that Siriano is young and dumb, but he did influence a lot of young gay boys to go around saying tranny this and tranny that, I can’t imagine the impression he left about drag queens. This is the kind of casual ignorance abound within our own community, and Drag Race is here to make you WALK IT OFF, GURL. Anyhow, I cannot wait for what Rupaul has in store for season 2, let’s hope they take some of that vaseline off the lens and have more episodes! And if you are a drag performer, make a vid and show off your Chicago-style tuck!

Guiding Light’s Otalia…Finally!
April 22, 2009
How fantabulous was it to watch Olivia admit her love, then to have Natalia run off on Frank and then to have Otalia find each other at the gazebo, where Natalia finally admitted her love to Olivia?! Watching this organic relationship come to fruition was well worth the wait. Natalia’s struggle with her faith, and Olivia’s uncharacteristic selflessness (let’s face it people, Olivia’s always been a self-serving manipulative bitch) proved that love is never predictable. Olivia and Natalia may be now sorting out their feelings, but the rest of us know that we want some happily ever after for Otalia! It’s a shame that Guiding Light stepped up it’s game right before the curtains came tumbling down. Had GL focused on such a natural, realistic love story (NO MATTER THE SEX) rather than gimmicks then the doom of cancellation could’ve been avoided. At least we have a few more months to root for a happy ending for Otalia!!!
P.S. Kudos to having Guiding Light’s in the closet lesbian mayor, Doris, volunteer to officiate at the wedding…as she egged Olivia on to stop it from happening!

Guiding Light Cancelled, Otalia Lives On
April 14, 2009
As we all lament the cancellation of Guiding Light after 72 years, we can at least look forward to an exciting week for Otalia! After months of will they/won’t they, Natalia and Olivia reach a pivotal point in their story: Olivia declares her love for Natalia, just as Natalia is set to walk down the aisle with Frank! Will Natalia put a stop the wedding and succumb to her true feelings? Will Otalia fans get what they’ve been longing for? Will Guiding Light finally go all out now that their days are numbered? Yours truly will definitely be tuning in to Guiding Light next week to see! Let’s celebrate Otalia while we can!

Amelie Gillette Live Blogging Final L Word
March 6, 2009
Oh man, BOUND to be way better than the actual show, The Hater columnist Amelie Gillette will be live blogging the final episode of the L Word.
“How many times will Pam Grier say, “Girl!” because she clearly can’t remember her lines? Will Lucy Lawless have handsex with anyone? Elizabeth Berkley: alien or half-alien? Which characters will completely change personalities one last time just for the hell of it? Will the writers just push the pregnant trans-man down the stairs and be done with it because they clearly hate that character so much, or will he actually have a baby? Did all the characters just take turns drowning Jenny, or was this whole season really some crazy screenplay Jenny was writing and she’s not actually dead (the first theory makes more sense for The L Word, which is to say that it makes no sense in the real world)”
These are the questions Gillette hopes to answer, be sure to get over to the A.V. Club to find out what happens.

Rumormill: Jay Brannan To Be On A Soap!
March 1, 2009Jay Brannan (of Shortbus fame) was seen auditioning over at As The World Turns studios last week. With him being an openly gay actor/musician could this mean ATWT could be potentially looking to cast a character to foil resident gay boys, Luke and Noah? Let’s hope so! Jay Brannan in the mix with Luke and Noah would be über hot!

Daytime Lesbian Supercouple Wedding Bells
February 10, 2009
Be sure to tune in to All My Children this week where we are treated to daytime’s first lesbian wedding! Super hot couple Bianca and Reese walk down the aisle amongst family and friends. Soap Opera Digest is celebrating this momentous occasion by featuring our favorite girls on this weeks cover! Let’s enjoy daytime’s premier lesbian couple while we can folks! Words out that Eden Reigel (Bianca) will not be resigning with the show when her contract expires this Spring, leaving Reese all to her lonesome! Will the show recast Bianca? Is this why Reese has been exploring her bisexual tendencies with Zach? We’ll have to wait and see. Until then, I’ll be see ya’ll at the wedding!
