Critical Fierceness

One of the many reasons that Chicago is a great place to be if you are queer is because of its supportive community. We are always looking for the new hotness, the outness-the fierceness. Chances Dances has been a monthly staple in Wicker Park for 3 years now, third Mondays have never been the same since this space for young, flashy gays became part of Chicago’s scene. The organizers are looking to broaden the scope of their reach, and are starting with an arts fund. The Chances Dances Critical Fierceness Grant will award a monetary prize and provide a viewing space for one lucky winner every month. Grants will be given to emerging queer artists. This is very exciting, the first deadline for applications is December 31st, to be awarded in February. Full press release after the jump.

A project of Chances Dances, the Critical Fierceness Grant offers a unique opportunity for queer artistic expression to Chicago LGBTIQ communities. The grant is available to individuals or groups who identify themselves or their work as queer. Included in the grant is financial support in the amount of $500, an exhibition venue for a finalized project or work-in-progress, as well as ongoing communication and feedback about the project.
