Amanda Palmer’s ‘Oasis’
November 9, 2008I have been really resistant to the Dresden Dolls. As hot as the drummer is, they are just so dramatic, and I am not a teenage nelly-goth (anymore). This song, “Oasis,” from Amanda Palmer’s solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, is not less dramatic, but the narrative hits home – I know some ladies that this kind of shit has happened to. The video along with Palmer’s delivery just make it accessible, light, and sparks dialogue. LOVE IT, points for the out bi-girl, more since she dedicated it to Sarah Palin. I love Oasis – it’s such an awesome song – and like you – I know so many people that kind of thing has happened to.
Don’t you love the campness of the Dolls though? They are wonderfully over the top and some of us, who aren’t goths, love them!
