Is the name “Jay Reatard” his given name? Should I be offended or is the name just French? The fourth part of six in the series on Matador Records finds Jay joining forces with none other than Deerhunter. Not only that, but they did covered each other’s songs. Jay covered Deerhunter’s “Fluorescent Grey,” while Deerhunter did Jay’s “Oh, It’s Such A Shame” (which was previously available on Bradford’s blog as an Atlas Sound cover). The split 7″ will be released on July 22 and Matador will release all of the 7″s as an LP in the fall. That’s Jay and Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox on the cover art.
