Kate Cooper–Many Band Lady

Australian based Kate Cooper is a busy, talented, lady. Her band Iron On hits a satisfying spot in a place that normally get ejected these days: indie rock. Let’s face it, boy fronted, Death Cab-biting jingle jangle rock bands are crawling all over each other on blogs and magazines alike. Iron On touches on dissonant Rainer Maria-type melodies with a sensitive Promise Ring-y guitar crunch that reminds us that rock isn’t dead, just going through another regrouping phase. “One Man Band,” and “Snow” are what I am talking about. Cooper’s side gig An Horse is touring with Tegan & Sara this spring. That puts them in an advantageous position to get some more exposure, and possibly turn An Horse into her main focus. They have an EP called “Not Really Scared” coming out April 12th on Valve/MGM records. We need more female fronted indie rock, don’t you think? A couple of tracks below.
