Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel is such a good title for a record. Especially a debut from Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox. His stage antics can only point to a spillage of internal demons and the soft, hazy songs he records as Atlas Sound can only point to a melancholy flipside, a calmer face of arty bi-polarism. If you’re a fan, you already know how many songs Cox posts on the Deerhunter blog. It seems like theres a new CD-R EP every week available for download from him and I have to say, I’m never disappointed. The songs are awash in Twin Peaks-ish vibes that recall fog and abuse, and the song structures allude to folky pop buried in soft electronics. This record is perfect for these late winter days of hibernating. Posting some songs here would be dumb–there’s soooo much online already: official album songs streaming at the myspace, more demos and covers at the blog. Go.
