It’s mid-season on Shot At Love With Tila Tequila and I find myself completely offended yet in love with this reality show. I’m torn, just like Tila is, between men and women-which brings me to the biggest issue I have with her. The ultimate goal, as stated by the star, is to decide if she wants to be with a man or a woman. This goes against the basic theory of bisexuality which is that you are attracted to both sexes. The men and women competing for Tila’s love are out to make her either straight or a lesbian. Bisexuality is often misinterpreted by a lot of gays and lesbians as a time of confusion when one is afraid to come entirely out of the closet and this show does nothing to disprove that theory.
Even though the list of offenses is long when it comes to Shot At Love; I have to support it because finally, there is a butch in mainstream media. Hallelujah! Of course, I’m referring to Dani, the cute firefighter with a hipster hairdo. Okay, so in her bio she refers to herself as “futch”, I don’t care. Compared to the lipstick lesbians running around the poolside in bikinis with heels, Dani is an old-school, work-boot-wearin’, motorcycle-driving butch dyke. The eye-candy offered by mainstream media for those of us who favor such women are few and far-between. I can’t yet tell if Tila’s really into Dani or if the producers are keeping her around for the lesbian audience (which has to be huge). It’s sad, really, that we cling to any show that reflects us no matter how tragic. When Tila and Dani kissed on tonight’s episode and an Indigo Girls song played in the background, I knew I was being duped and for some reason, I fell for it.

Oh man. I totally agree with you. This is the show that I love to hate and I’m glad the showed Futch being sexual finally, even though I’m not convinced there’s alot of chemistry there (although Futch seems to be earnest about her feelings for Tila). Anyway, it’s funny you should say that the lesbian audience must be huge. The only people I know who watch it are straight. And they’re the same people who watch The L Word.
i saw this show for the first time the other night. what a terrifying show. and yet, i found myself staring wide eyed into Dani’s eyes via the screen. niiiiiice. and since we’re on the subject…..how about that Tasha?
Okay… I watched that show for the first time yesterday and almost peed my pants when they started in with the Indigo Girls. Question for you: Do you think they a e serious? Or camping it up? Hard to tell….
Pinky: If you think only straight people watch the L Word, go into T’s on a night that it’s playing. Unfortunately, lesbians are obsessed with it.
Speaking of the L Word-yes, cunt, Tasha is hottt! Agreed. Well, as long as you can ignore her ponytail, right?
Coya: Now that you mention it-I think they are camping it up, because when the guy who sleeps on his mom’s couch was kicked off, they played “Momma I’m Coming Home”. That was hilarious.
